Current implementation timeline
The Act entered into force on 1 August 2024. Prohibited practices and AI-literacy duties apply from 2 February 2025; GPAI obligations apply from 2 August 2025. Following the 2026 political agreement, Annex III high-risk rules are due by 2 December 2027 and regulated-product high-risk rules by 2 August 2028.
